Arguing the American citizen’s ignorance to U.S. foreign policy these days, while valid, is not relevant here in Sarah Palin’s first interview. It’s that she agrees with George W. Bush’s 8 years of presidency. Yes, the fact that she didn’t even have a basic understanding of the current sitting president’s vision of this country the past 8 years is troubling.
But let’s realize that she may become the new primary face of this GOP run for the White House. McCain is too old and could feel Obama pulling ahead. So the GOP brings in a new face and has artfully switched the mouthpiece of their ticket (Using this Bushy model of White House dynamics, does this mean McCain plays the role of Dick Cheney, the symbol of back room management?). While the history and general organizational assumptions of our country tell us the president is the the primary spokesperson. The face of the nation. Now, with the popularity and political star power of Palin, why would they want a dried up 72 year old man who I hear was a p.o.w.? He could lay low and let her do the talking. She’s going to be very strong at it soon.
Here’s CNN (oh and thanks goes out to thinkprogress.org for pointing out that CNN is calling us dumb):
