About

It is an exciting time to be alive, eh?  We’re all unifying as a planet, learning about each other.  It is exciting to have the global cultural, political, and ethnic immersion available.  Though I just get a kick out of being able to use Google Earth and dragging my mouse over to Nigeria, Bolivia, Thailand, Dunkirk IN and RedKey IN.  This place feels pretty small and settled now.  Almost nothing is undiscovered on this planet our senses can detect.  We’ve almost seen and heard and felt it all, well, what’s left of it anyway.  This awareness leads my mind to pre-occupy itself with how to live as an informed local citizen affected by a globalized world.  I don’t think there can be enough of them, especially here, especially now.  So, I’ll focus my thoughts on Indiana politics, state environmental conservation, and efforts to raise the awareness of Hoosier consumers.

As Gandhi suggested, I want to “be the change we wish to see in the world.”  One such change I demand to see is the exclusion of no one or everyone.   On a basic fundamental and personal level, I want people to exclude or prefer no one person based on gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, economic class.  That’s what we all must require of each other.  Equality and not the freedom to dominate.

I’ve posted random thoughts on random places at random times on for awhile now.  Perhaps I’ve been duped into the idea that I can blog to to start conversation and evaluation, or perhaps re-evualation of ideas.  Ideas that are basically cultural and political in nature.  I try to focus on local politics because my home does not have enough of them.

I’m inspired to try this for my baby girl. She should benefit from an increased sense of awareness and lead an empowered life.  She should not be pinned down by patriarchy and all that.  As her father, I should be learning just how to ensure such an environment for a smart girl in the 21st century.  Political and cultural awareness empowers us to attain these sorts of goals.  Being informed locally in Indiana begets national awareness begets global consciousness.

namaste and above all else, “the dude abides”.
