Ouch! Bipartisan senate panel on energy dismisses domestic drilling

This is a succinct and damming assessment of the bizarre Republican priority that is domestic drilling.  Take that Mike Pence…

Not that it much matters, the damage is done.  69% of voters polled by Rasmussen favor domestic drilling.  Only 19% of Americans opposed domestic drilling.  For what it’s worth, 77% also favor tax [...]

How do you counter the short-sided, absurd phenomena that is “Drill, baby drill”?

Frame it as the scandal it is.  Re-define the “Drill Baby, Drill” the phenomena that is has become.  Use ThinkProgress.org’s phrasing ”Drill Baby, Drill Scandal”.  Call it “Sex, Drugs, Oil”.  It doesn’t matter (though please avoid using anything with the ‘gate’ suffix.  It’s terribly uncreative and overused).

Instead of Democrats caving and joining in to support ‘limited’ domestic drilling, use the gift that [...]

Evan Bayh joins bi-partisan group to promote offshore drilling

I just can’t figure out if this bi-partisanship is negotiating and comprise or if it’s another example of a Republicrat super party.  Nevertheless, Evan Bayh has announced he is going to be joining a bi-partisan group to allow limited off shore drilling because it would “[raise] taxes on oil companies to invest $20 billion in the development of petroleum-free [...]

The U.S. $3B gift to China

Iraq is resumingan existing oil exporting contract with China interrupted by the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.  While I’m sure there are some stateside here that would be up in arms over such a deal, especially since we’re there for oil (Sarah Palin’s slip on the issue here, McCain’s slip there).  Is this contract a gesture to the Chinese acknowledging their similar need [...]

be a smart consumer, kick the bottled water habit

plastic bottles filling landfills, bottled water not being discernable from tap water, and a waste of oil.  Re-introduce yourself to tap water…

World Corporate Dominator sets up shop in Whiting, IN

One of the world’s global corporate giants, Fluor, has entered the Hoosier state to collect billions of dollars. A fortune 500 company and close partner with BP, the company has been awarded 3.8 billion dollars in contracts to build this controversial new plant on Lake Michigan when everyone but Indiana wants to preserve the world’s largest fresh water [...]

My dish soap weighs in on oil conservation

Straight from the back of my Seventh Generation dish soap to my blog,
If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 25 oz. petroleum-based dish washing liquid with a plant derived product, like Seventh Generation’s, we could save 86,000 barrels of oil.  That’s enough to heat 4,900 homes for a year.

Conservation, what [...]

Domestic drilling feels like desperate garage sale

It reminds me of going to a garage sale and seeing someone trying to sell anything that is not tied down in their house on the cheap.  Part of me feels sorry for the individual(s) selling their useful items or collectables or whatnot for a couple of bucks that won’t last them past the end [...]

RNC vs. DNC, round 2

Yes this is more political finger pointing than substance for change, but again, I can’t help it.  the Democratic National Committee, without the endorsement of Obama, has stepped into the theatrics by promoting the McCain campaign.  Though I must admit, distributing fake checks to the McCain campaign from Exxon as well as offering Exxon-McCain 08 swag does [...]

What are you complaining about? It was just a fellow American making $11,700,000,000 last quarter

This is dangerous, don’t you think?  Rep. Roy Blunt (R) declares we should be ecstatic that America’s pride, Exxon, made so much money.  They’re American so quit complaining, you complainers!  Where’s your American, nationalistic pride?  Exxon is one of your fellow 14th amendment enabled corporate-entity citizens and you are going to sit there and bad mouth them when those Russians, [...]
